MEN of the Ondo State Police Command attached to the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) have killed one of the suspects who escaped from its custody in Akure, during a gun duel in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, Bukola Adeoye, aka Agbara, was arrested after a gun duel with security operatives during a robbery operation and was rushed to the General Hospital, Ore, but later died hours later on admission in the hospital.

He was arrested after his gang, robbed one Gbenga Babatomi of Sabo Area Ore the previous night and inflicted several injuries on the victim during the robbery operation

Adeoye was one of the two armed robbery suspects who escaped from Special Anti-Robbery Squad SARS a few weeks ago with handcuffs.

Speaking during the parade, the State Police Commissioner Gbenga Adeyanju said the other suspect Rotimi Adeyeye and two of their girlfriends who harboured them have run away while detectives have been on their trail.

Explaining on how the suspect was apprehended, Adeyanju said the detective from SARS received information that the Two suspects who escaped from their custody were taking cover in the house of one of their girlfriend, Loveth Ogbu in Akure.

Adeyanju said “On the 17th day of July 2018 at about 0900hrs, Detectives from Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Akure, received information that the escaped armed robbery suspects from SARS office, Akure, one Bukola Adeoye A.K.A. Agbara ‘m’ and one Rotimi Adeyeye ‘m’ were taking cover in the house of one Loveth Ogbu ‘f’.

“A team of detectives swooped on the said Loveth Ogbu ‘f’ and arrested her, on interrogation, she confessed that the escaped armed robbery suspects were in Ore.

“Based on the confession, Detectives mobilized to Ore and arrested one Felix Eteti ‘m’ age 27 years of Ebenezer Street, Sabo, Ore, who was a member of the gang.

“On the 18th day of July 2018, at about 0200hrs, the team received a distress call from members of the public that robbers were operating at Sabo Area, Ore.

“Detectives trailed the robbers to Christ Foundation Primary School Ore. On sighting the detectives, the robbers opened fire on them and during an exchange of fire one of the armed robbery suspects one Bukola Adeoye A.k.a Agbara sustained gunshot injury on his right leg.

“He was rushed to General Hospital Ore where he died few hours after being admitted.

“However, one Gbenga Babatomi ‘m’ 48 years of Sabo Area Ore, who was earlier robbed by Bukola Adeoye and his gang the previous night, and thereafter went to the same hospital to treat the machete cuts inflicted on him by the robbers, quickly identified Bukola Adeoye as one of the robbers that attacked him.

“Items recovered from the suspects are, one cut to size gun, three cutlasses, one empty shell and four live cartridges”

The girlfriend of the fleeing suspect Loveth disclosed that his boyfriend Rotimi and the deceased Bukola hypnotised detectives at SARS before they escaped from the SARS custody

She said the juju was supplied by one of their friends known as Barrister saying it was Barrister that helped them to break the handcuffs which aided their escape to Ore town but denied knowing her boyfriend to be an armed robber.

The Police commissioner, however, said the suspects would be charged to court while other members of the gang who are still on the run would be apprehended soonest.

About four police detectives attached to SARS have been in detention since the escape of the suspects for the negligence of duty.
