Finance, Power ministries ranked lowest in transparency



Nigeria’s ministries of Finance and Power, Works and Housing are ranked the lowest among the Ministries, Agencies and Departments (MDAs) in the area of transparency, an Executive Order on the Ease of Doing Business report has shown.  


A breakdown of the report seen by Daily Trust showed that among the 44 MDAs being assessed, finance ministry came last with 0% compliance in the aspect of transparency and closely followed by the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing which had 19% compliance in the area of transparency to the order in the ease of doing business.  

Other MDAs with low transparency and compliance in the ease of doing business include the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) which has 27%, the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and Ministry of Information and Culture with 32% compliance respectively.  

Similarly, the Ministry of Transportation and that of Agriculture were among the least ranked with 33% respectively.  

The executive order which was signed in May 2017 by then acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo was the first executive order by the current administration which was aimed at promoting transparency and efficiency in the
