Avoid partisan politics, Oba of Benin tells traditional rulers



THE Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba Oba Ewuare 11 has advised traditional rulers to avoid partisan politics.

Oba Ewuare 11 who spoke at the weekend in Benin when the Ojie-Uromi of Uromi Zaiki Aslem Eidenojie 11 paid him a thank you visit in his palace pleaded that they should instead protect and preserve the image and dignity of their traditional and cultural heritage that will bring about socio-economic development in their domains.

The Ojie-Uromi of Uromi who was suspended in 2016 by former Governor of Edo state government, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for allegedly traveling abroad without permission was reinstated two months ago by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The Benin royal father sued for joint efforts of all irrespective of tribal differences to move the state forward, politics.

He called on his fellow traditional rulers in the state to create a level playing ground to enable social economic activities thrive in the state.

He added that social economic development strives better when traditional institutions creates the enabling environment free of rancour and partisanship.

The Ojie-Uromi of Uromi, Zaiki Eidenojie 11 told Oba Ewaure that he was at the palace to appreciate him for the fatherly roles he played that ensured his reinstatement to the throne of his ancestors.

He said the the role played by the Benin monarch was a clear demonstration that he was a father to all.

He further pledged unflinching loyalty of the people of Uromi to the Oba as well as to ensure all round development to the state.

The Uromi monarch was in the palace of the Oba of Benin in company of his wife, family members, top Esan Chiefs including the Esan traditional Igbabonerimi dance troupe that provided entertainment to the guests.
