NDLEA arrests 7 suspected drug traffickers
The Kogi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested seven suspected traffickers of hard drugs in the state.
One of the suspects, 40-year-old Abdullahi Sheidu, who allegedly sells cannabis sativa, popularly known as Indian hemp, said he was pushed into in illegal drugs business for survival due to hardships.
He told journalists yesterday that he has been in the illegal business for several months.
The suspect, who is a native of Okehi Local Government Area of the state was reportedly caught selling cannabis sativa weighing 1.4kg and Tramadol 50g to workers at a Chinese company located along Okene-Lokoja-Abuja road, before Kabba junction Lokoja.
Also, the command paraded the duo of Okoye Daniel and Maxwell Egbo along with Mohammed Sanni Danlami, Mona Matthew, Ejima Sunday and Gambo Adamu for alleged involvement in trafficking psychotropic substances suspected to be cannabis sativa, Codeine and Rophynol.
Parading the suspects in Lokoja, the Kogi State Commandant of the NDLEA, Alhaji Idris Bello said the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
